I have a batch of Ed's Haus Brau brewing in the primary for about a week, and I see the airlock still burping every so often. I get down to sniff that sweet sweet goodness coming out (oh like I'm the only one that ever does that) and I smell a really odd odor coming out of it. It smells almost like.... pears? I've heard of fruity esters, but it's been cool in the house all week and I didn't think it would smell like... that! I know Ed's Haus Brau has a lot of Cascades, but it's not grapefruit smell. The plot thickens....

Ahh wasn't that a nice look-see of the beer in question?

So as I'm getting up, I notice what's in the bags right in front of me...

Yes, I'd moved a pair of bags of pears to drunkenly smell the airlock. That was the source of my 'off flavor'. Just thought I'd share!! :mug:
