Hi all,

I want to try my hand at my first AG brew. I have all the parts put together with much help form all of you here.

I am in need of a simple AG recipe that will not require a fermentation chamber (this wont be an issue after xmas) and will produce a 5gal batch. I am open to pretty much anything, and I want to do it on Saturday as part of my B-DAY party.

Thanks in advance.

I actually would recommend something different than Cream of Three Crops as a first AG, unless you're new to craft beer. CoTC is a great beer for folks who aren't ready for bigger, bolder flavors, and it's really easy drinking. But it's also 30% huskless adjuncts which can make sparging hard for first timers. Additionally, it doesn't hide much for off flavors, where a hoppier or more roasty beer would hide any slight off flavors if they occur. So I'd try something different. Maybe EdWort's Haus Pale Ale or Orfy's Mild?

Just steer clear of things with flaky adjuncts, lots of rye, or Maris Otter - those things can all lead to stuck sparges and a pain in the butt you don't need on your first AG batch.

Do you like IPAs? I've had great results with Northern Brewer's Dead Ringer IPA. Simple recipe - it's just 2-row and a little bit of crystal malt for color so it flows well out of the mash tun.
