Below is a recipe im working on. Im trying to creat my own 60 min ipa. I want to keep the color below 10° SRM. and I wouldn't mind going up at least 10 points in gravity.
im thinking about adding a pound of either light gold or wheat extract.
I really need help with specialty grains choices. i have no knowledge of what to do there and what would be a good choice for this beer.

And to make it clear the reason behind it being 6 gallons is that im having a little fun with this recipe. I am going to divide it up into 3 gallon batches use a pretty standard yeast in one for a good American IPA and a Belgian yeast in the other for a Belgian style IPA.

You could try carastan, crystal 60 or 80, and some carapils. If you want to mini-mash some munich might also be nice.

Thank you brtisbuck. I'll look at those. Now I'll just have to figure out how much to use. I do like the idea of a mini mash. I always feel like I'm cheating if I don't use actual grains.

Start with say 8oz of the carastan and crystal, maybe 12oz of carapils and plug it into your software to see how it will effect your color and adjust from there.

As far as the munich you might want to use a pound, also check in your software on how that may effect your gravity. You should be able to just mini-mash all of your grains together rather than steeping the specialty grains and mashing the munich seperate. 1-1.5l per pound mashed at 154* for 30 min. I usually then just heat my kettle to 170* and tea-bag dunk my grain bag rather then a true sparge...that should work fine and save a step. Add your mash wort to the kettle and go.
