I had it done Friday afternoon and went back to work Monday. What a rookie. Should've waited a couple weeks and had it done this afternoon...

OP, learn from us

Again there are more articles out about how this procedure is often scheduled around March Madness. The reasoning is that if you need to take a day or two off work, you may as well sit in front of a TV and watch Basketball all day!

Brilliant!

That's exactly what I did last year! Sat around drinking beer and watching bball.

I had it done about 7 years ago and there were complications. You'll get a pre-check a week or two before the operation. It was at my pre-check the doc noted I had a short vas deferens on one side, but said it should be ok. Should being the optimal word here. During the procedure the Doc wasn't able to fully grasp the vas deferens with the clamp to get a clean cut and cauterize the end. It kept slipping, and every time it did it felt like a linebacker kicked me square in the junk. This went on for an hour (two hours in at this point since the other side was done first) until he called in a second Doc who proceeded to attempt the maneuver for another hour with more slipping and what felt like the entire football team had lined up to kick me at this point. Unsuccessful he called in the head Doc who had it done in 15 minutes. I was very sore, like bags of peas every hour laying on the couch sore, for a couple of days. It took about three months for the pain to be completely gone. All that being said, i'm still glad I had it done for all the reasons everyone has posted already.

Had it done in '96, the smell of the poor little tubes being cauterized stayed with me for a long time. Still glad I did it though, I'd make an awful parent and frankly so would SWMBO...

I'm still sore ten days later, and while the procedure is uncomfortable, it only took ten minutes total to do both sides.

Had mine done right after Xmas. The numbing only took affect on the surface of the scrotum so I didn't feel the incision but I felt everything else. Just had to White knuckle through it. Doc was suprised I didn't pass out but I'm still glad I did it. Although proper numbing would have been appreciated.

Mine was over pretty quick but I still had time to sweat through my shirt. The doc said that he did it the old school way with no cauterizing. He tied off the vas with two different kinds of sutures, one of which is cat gut. He said the cat gut causes a allergic reaction that makes it seal up.

My appointment to check his work is in two weeks.
