Any feedback on this brew? I'm still in my first few months of brewing and I started my 5 gallon batch yesterday and the airlock is playing my favorite tune this morning.

Is there any reason to use a secondary or just leave it in the primary till bottling day?

Skip secondary as it is not needed. You can also risk to introduce more O2 while transferring and this can negatively affect your end result. Just go primary and dry hop at the tail of fermentation or right after it is done.

Cheers!

Excellent choice. I've brewed the Sierra Madre several times. It's a really good beer. I've never used a secondary, & all my beers have turned out great. You risk exposing your beer to oxygen when you transfer it. Just primary for two weeks, then bottle. It will turn out great. Hope this helps. Enjoy.

Mine turned out pretty good. A little bit of a sweet after taste, which I understand is normal for homebrews, but it is pretty accurate otherwise. I pitched with a Wyeast starter and it fermented out nicely.

Enjoy!!

Mine was pretty good too, I dry hopped a few days before bottling with some fresh wild hops I have growing near by. Maybe not the best idea since I have no idea what strain they were, but it's still quite drinkable!!

What have you guys dry hopped with? Is it pretty faithful to the style and tasty with the additions during boil as per instructions, or is it in need of something extra?

This just came in the mail today for me, I’m working on a re-entry into homebrewing, have been working on a couple ciders but decided I’d like to try a few extract beers and ease my way back in.

As I said, I used some random wild hops. Looking back, it probably would have turned out a bit better not dry hopping but I'm sure it would be rather tasty with the right aroma type hops, I think mine added more bitterness.
