Might be a dumb question but I cannot find an answer online.
I have a 12qt stock pot, but I am wanting to make a 3 gallon batch of home brew. Can I put one gallon of clean water into my fermenter, then add cooled wort to get me to the 3 gallon mark? I don't want to risk a boil over in the stock pot. Will I lose any of my flavor or gravity? Obviously I could just order a stock pot large enough but I am wanting to experiment with a recipe tonight.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
