I finally took delivery of this today:

If it looks a little dingy (brown even), it's becase I rode 2 hours through wind, rain, hail, sleet, and snow to get it home (no joke...bad weather through over 4,000' of elevation change). It was a small price to pay - I'm gonna have fun this summer!

You know what H-D stands for.........Hundred Dollar!!!!!!!!!!!!! and you WILL spend plenty of them and ENJOY every bit of it.

Nice ride, Brewiz! Looks pretty decked out!

I've been riding since high school (an OLD Honda CB750 - the kind you see on "Top Ten Motorcycles in History"). I finally gave in to temptation and bought a new bike.

This is my first Harley. The V-Rod was my first choice, and a Softail or Fat-Boy was attractive, but the price tags were a bit steep. I'm not a "big bike" guy anyway, so this'll do. I swore I wouldn't go nuts with it, but I've already found plenty of ways to spend those C-notes. First up is a new seat! I think they make the stock seat uncomfortable on purpose!

Yuri, sweet ride! Looks like one a friend of mine had when he was in Clovis - met him when I was going to MMI in Phoenix in 92. I used to have my own H-D custom shop - I'd be glad to give you advice or how-to info as you start modding your bike - I've seen your other work, you can do all your customizing yourself. Enjoy!

This is more like it:

It was a gorgeous day today, so I cleaned 'er up and took a spin up into the hills and back. Thanks for the tips on the seats, fellas. Lou, I might have to bounce some ideas off you at some point.

:mug:

First thing, you gotta get her to run right. Do your break-in miles, then it'll be time.

Is she a 883 or 1200?

You know you have to spend mucho bucks. I did.

Nice seat for SWMBO, bigger tank etc, but the fun you get riding it...priceless.

This is a 92 Hugger.

That rocks. We had the HD trailer here a few years back and I got to try them all.
Loved the Heritage, but the 1200 really kicked ass. Road King wasn't bad either.

I had the 883 Hugger. Decent price too.

During the 100th they were giving test rides about 6 block away from my house. Before that time I was very anti-VRod but after riding that sucker it's on the top of the list. 1200 are fast too comma light wieght and powerful. A full bagger is nice on a long ride.

Congrats....I'm trying to talk SWMBO into letting me buy a Buell. I think I may need to take my dad's advice:

"Sometimes you just have to do what you want and let them scream."

Oddly enough, I'm trying to talk SWMBO into buying a Buell for herself (the Blast). It's a little bike, just sporty enough to be fun, light enough to pick up when she drops it, and easy enough on the wallet. She always gets all giddy about sport bikes when we go to the bike shop - I figure this is a decent entry level model.

I think used Blasts can be had for really REALLY attractive prices.
My SWMBO knows how to ride, but has no interest in riding her own bike, just wants to be on back w/me. I can't relate -- I have been riding motorcycles since 5th grade, and I can't be on one and not be in control - I took a ride on back of a motorcycle once when I was about 17 and it freaked me out!
Lotta brewers that ride, cool!!

not to hijack, here's my baby:

94 Honda CBR F2

and those stupid turn signals are gone, just for inspection only

That Nightster's a nice looking bike! The seating height might be a bit TOO low for most of us, but I like the retro theme. The exhaust is almost exactly what I'd like to put on my bike at some point.
