While I was researching stuff for one of my books,I stumbled onto this warehouse, I think in NY, that has a lot of the fixtures,wood paneling, & bars from Luchow's German restaurant. That old school Victorian paneling would be great in a home pub!

* After due consideration of those pieces practically being museum quality, & talking to SWMBO, we agreed on an idea I had. At one point, while I was still working at Ford in Cleveland, & thus driving back & forth, I remember a colonial house being rebuilt on the strip in Old Avon, OH. They were re-doing the entire front porch area. It was the one on the news a few years ago where the old, 18th century barn with original glass was being sold to an artist fella out of state. Taken apart & shipped piece by piece, it was cool to watch the care being taken in dissembling it.
Anyway, that whole frontal area of the house was laid up panels put together one fitted piece at a time. Watching this 20-something do this day after day until it was done was fascinating. I'd done things sort of like that in my younger days, but not that extensive. So, I thought, use some shelf panels & the right moldings to reproduce those wall panels on the back wall of my little brewery/man cave. I never got to go to August Luchow's beyond fine establishment, Which he opened & started building onto in 1882, but my heart just won't let me forget that beautiful place. Not to mention, their 70th anniversary cookbook I have, dated 1951. Lots of pics & drawings of the place in there, with some amusing stories to boot. What would you guys think of this idea? The " back" wall is the one behind the wire shelf/fermenter stand area in my videos. Maybe stain the wood wall panels honey oak, to match the houses woodwork (Georgian Colonial), or maybe antique maple?

Just a little fodder for the imagination. I have a large, old mirror panel that might make a cool false window as well, perhaps in the central wall panel? I'm thinking of using oak wood, luan & molding material to duplicate the panels, stained honey oak? I also thought about a remark my wife made of the pics of those panels, still in place in this shot. They don't go all the way up the wall. So maybe 4' panels on the 7' wall. with painted top portion?
