I have the chrome red-handled Italian wing capper that I'm sure a lot of people have. When I first started stockpiling bottles I drank a lot of Racer 5 because the labels came off so easily, and of course because I like the beer! It turned out that my capper would stick onto these bottles when capping. I had to hold the capped bottle between my legs while gently jiggling the capper to get it to come loose. Also, the capper left an indentation in the cap that I didn't realize was abnormal until another homebrewer mentioned it. The sticking and indentation also happens with all bombers I use.

Through trial and error, I've found that the only bottles that work perfectly for my capper are 12 oz. Lagunitas bottles. And the funny thing is I threw those in the recycle for years because it took me years to realize they'd switched to pry-off.

Now, whenever I go to the grocery store with the great beer selection, I always treat myself to a beer that comes in a 750mL swing top. But the're uncommon.

I don't think this type of capper is adjustable, but maybe I'm missing something. Have any of you had a similar (or very different) experience?

I get the same indentation, but not consistent sticking, just once in a while. I use 500-565 green bottles which are about all that's available around me. So I'll be watching other's responses too.
