Hi guys. i have a beer in a keg that i have just started to dring. its been in the keg about 2 weeks now. when i tried it, it is very sweet. what could cause this. i have made this batch before (lager extract) and they havnt been this sweet. any ideas :confused:

BUT IT IS STILL DRINKABLE!!!

What were your gravities (OG/FG)? Did you allow it to ferment completely? It sounds as though there is still too much unfermented sugar in your mix.
 
All malt/beer is sweet until you balance it with the bitterness of hops.

Your best bet would be to add a hop tea. It's usage is always a guessing game.

Make a hop tea with 1 quart of water and 1 oz of bittering hops (the same as you used in your batch) and boil for 1 hour to get the bitterness out.

Pour off one glass of beer. Using an eyedropper add several drops of the tea to your glass and stir it in. Take a drink sample (12 oz for easy math). If it is still too sweet add more drops. Once you figure out how many drops it takes to bitter up a glass to the point you like it better take that many drops (X amount) and multiply it by how many glasses (the size of your sample) you have in your batch (probably 30, but don't over compensate for the glass you already took out). This is the amount of drops you'll need to add to correct the bitterness flavor.
 
i agree w/ bikebryan. probably didn't ferment out. try to let it go in the primary a little longer, and check your SG reading prior to racking to secondary, or bottling to make sure it's done.

good tip from HB 99 too!
