Just thought I'd post a little information and a few photo's about the micro brewery I've been building in my garage, Well I say a micro brewery but it only brews 1 Gallon at a time so I guess it's a nano brewery. Though I've recently modified it so it can automatically now brew a high concentration brew and automatically dilute it prior to fermentation therefore making a brew of 2 Gallons at a time.
Brewing so small was intentional as I wanted to brew more often so I could play with different brews and things, and get consistency across my brews.
The brewery is entirely electric and consists of an Electric heated Hot Liquor Tank, Mashtun , An electric heated copper and a wort cooler. Oh and other bits like the rotating sparge arm, and fermentation enclosure with bubble monitoring to monitor the active fermentation.
The whole thing is controlled via an wireless Android Nexus tablet and the plan is to make it as automatic as possible, You just have to tell the system what you want to do and it automatically tells you what needs to be done and prompts when certain hops need to be added etc.
The custom android application has full automatic controls with alarms, live visual displays of the brewery with manual overrides on all controls and valves etc.
It can remotely alert a mobile phone when alarms occur or something needs to be done.
The application has complete recipe control including stock control and costs per bottle per the recipes and full fermentation monitoring and archiving.
I've recently included an automatic bottle cleaning system on the system so cleaning bottles now just consists of placing the bottles in the holders and pushing start cleaning, The system automatically rinses the bottles, Sterilises them and the flushes them automatically.
At the same time it cleans any pipe work required for bottle filling etc and caps etc.
Anyway Here are a few photo's of it as it currently is, It's got it's own blog called http://brew.ellams.com/ if you want a more detailed look at it's construction and how it works.
