Hello,

I got a Belgian wheat (wit) extract kit from AHS. It lacked any coriander, which I noticed midway through brewing, despite the fact that their website says that the kit comes with coriander. I have sent them an email expressing my disappointment, and I'll let you all know if they rectify the situation.

Can I get some from my local homebrew shop and add this to the primary? Will the layer of krausen and all of the CO2 burps push it out?

I've heard great things about AHS. It sucks that they let me down with this one.

You can buy coriander at your LHBS or even your grocery store.

AHS will make good on it, I promise you that. They've made minor errors on my orders, but they ALWAYS fix it ASAP with absolutely no argument.

You should always check the contents of the packages when they arrive. It's not really fair to say they disappointed you or they let you down. I'm sure they would have made things right had the chance been given. This is just IMHO. I'm not sure about adding it to the fermenter though.

it isn't a belgian wit without the coriander. I would probably grind half the amount to a fine grind in a coffee grinder and add it to the primary, i think that would be fine.

They'll send you the coriander out.

I actually ordered the same extract kit from them and it came with half the amount of bitter orange peel. They mailed the rest out to me no questions asked.

I was quite disappointed though, as I wanted to brew it on a specific date which was the day after I got the kit in the mail and didn't get the orange peel till a few days later. I ended up just going out to a store that sold it and I bought some (at an inflated price obviously). I told them that and they didn't offer to do anything other than send me what they forgot.

In my experience, many companies make mistakes. I have never seen such a wonderful response from a company such as I have seen from AHS. They are public about their mistakes and they seem to go out of their way to help out people on this forum. I'll be surprised if Forrest (I think he is the owner) doesn't reply publicly to this thread expressing his regret for the error. In all of my dealings with companies I'd have to put AHS in my top three based mostly on their customer service. They have a great product and they aren't afraid to admit mistakes. They back up their products without pimping them.

I guess this is a bit off topic but I couldn't help sayin' it! :off:

:tank:

I'd make coriander tea to fix it.
Take your whole coriander, crush it, boil it for five minutes in a pint of water, let cool, and add to your fermenter.

Hell, I've got a bunch of leftover whole coriander from the wit I brewed today. Send me a SASE, and I'll dump a half-ounce of whole coriander in it for you.

A local health food store (Vitamin Cottage, for Denver types) sells it for $0.70 for 1/4 pound. That's what, about 17 cents an ounce?

:off: As well, but I thin kit needs to be said. I had placed a semi large order with AHS a few months back. One of the items that I ordered was 6.5 gal carboy. I received a 6 gal. I wasn't to worried about it, but I emailed AHS and asked if they or I had made a mistake. I never asked them to correct it. The next thing I know I get an email back from AHS saying that they were sending me the correct item. This is top notch customer service in my opinion. I just cant help saying good things about good people, like Forrest and his crew when I read other wise. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread...

I have heard nothing but good things about AHS as well. I picked them out because I read about them on this forum. I am not trying to rip them as an organization, and it's true that the with any transaction, the onus is on the customer to make sure that he/she got what they paid for. I simply hope that AHS will offer me some form of redress since, at the end of the day, I paid for something that I didn't get. I was also an idiot who started the process before making sure I had all of the requisite ingredients. If I hadn't done that, I simply would have held off for a few days.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Also, it should be noted that they got the other two items I ordered--an imperial amber kit and a 6.5 gallon carboy--right.
