So, my great American vacation of 6 years is now over and it is time to travel back to Europe. I arrived with one duffel bag filled with clothes but I, needless to say, accumulated a lot of stuff over here. One of those things is an all-grain 10g brewing setup.

What should I do? Pay top dollar to ship it all back or sell it and try to buy new stuff? My system is my baby, I have built almost every single part of it and I wouldn’t be able to separate from it with ease.

What would you do? Spend almost 500$ to ship it or start over from scratch? I am thinking I can sell all my stuff for at least $700. With my logic this leaves me $1,200 to build up a new system which could be pretty fun...

I need help from fellow brewers who understand the value of a home built system!

Cheers!

Tough call, but I would be tempted to rebuild from scratch.

Knowing what you know now you could avoid a lot of the cost pitfalls associated with a new brewer building a system and end up with a better one for the same or even less cost than your current one cost.

I would put it on Craigslist and your LHBS bulletin board see what happens. There is a good chance you won't get what you want/need for it, so that may have an impact on your decision.
My advice is start trying to sell in NOW.

+1

I have enjoyed building my system, but there are a few changes I would make if I were doing it all over again. I can't say how you view your setup, but that's probably what I would do.

And I'd enjoy building another, maybe not as much as the first but definitely would be fun.

I do like my ghetto rig though.....

Sell it to a grateful new owner and rebuild. There's always room for improvements, plus it's fun to build new things!
