picking up a new work bench today to keep my brewing equipment on. question is, is it a really bad idea to move my fermenter from the old bench to the knew one. my beer has been fermenting for 10 days and has about another week before I bottle. I can pick up the 6 gallon fairly carefully without TOO much disturbance. or should I just wait until I bottle. thanks

You can move it. Just don't disturb it too much. It's better if the air lock is at the top of the chamber, that way it has "positive" pressure on it. - Dwain

Go ahead and move it. Just try to be a little careful with it, you just want to minimize the amount of splashing around it does. Don't worry about disturbing the sediment too much. If you aren't bottling for a few more days, it will settle back to the bottom.

You can move it just don't sake it up much in the move. If you are using a bucket i would remove the airlock before the move. Some times when moving the bucket you can suck the water that is in the airlock into the bucket. Its not the end of the world if some water gets in. If you are using a carboy u can leave the airlock in place.

I move mine with the airlock in place. Of course, I use star-san solution in my airlock. :D

A plastic carboy (Better Bottle) will also suck in water, but not a biggie I think. I usually take the airlock out of my BetterBottles before I move them. (Not the stopper, just the airlock.)
