I'm interested in investing in a wort chiller. What I'm noticing is size varieties. I brew with a 5 gallon brew kettle. What size chiller do I need?

Feel free to copy and paste a link from Midwest Supplies.

A 25' copper or stainless chiller will work just fine but I would buy a 50' if you can afford it.

That should work. I like chillers with tubes at the end and hose hook ups at the end of that. Something like this:

But it's personal preference. You may need an adapter to hook up to the sink, your local hardware store should hook you up.

Oh!, so this!? http://www.midwestsupplies.com/stainless-steel-immersion-wort-chiller.html

Sorry, I'm trying to make it easy for an xmas list. Most of the items are coming from the same supplier.

If you're just brewing with a 5 gal kettle, a 25' immersion chiller would work fine. But if you think you might step up to a bigger kettle, a 50' chiller would be better. Jaded Brewing makes some really efficient chillers with thinner tubing. Less water waste and fast chilling. Give those a look too.

Measure the inside diameter of that 5 gal BK and make sure whatever IC you buy has coils that will fit inside.

I spent all my DIY luck on the mashtun :D
Not taking any more chances lol :mug:

This was my exact reaction when the Mashtun worked.

I originally planned to make my own immersion chiller but found I couldn't buy the tubing for what it cost to buy an assembled chiller. Same thing happened on my mash tun. YMMV

DIY. It's easier than making a mash tun and you can make a 50' chiller for about the price of a 25' premade. The more surface area will help. Embrace the mistakes haha.
