For those of you who have the 1/2" 3-way motorized ball valves from open source control systems:

https://www.oscsys.com/store/product/3-Way-Motorized-Ball-Valve

Can you tell me how long it takes to open or close?
The product info at the above link says <=15 seconds. Before dropping $75 I would like to know what everyone has experienced.

Also, If you have any other model 1/2" 3-way stainless ball valve (moterized), could you provide some similar data?

My 3/4" 3-way valves are from ebay (misol) and according to the specs open/close between 3-5 seconds, no way.
Maybe mine are the old style, no screws.
All my valves take close to 10 seconds, at 4.5 seconds both of the ports are perfectly closed (I stop them ).

I have 1/2" electric ball valves from China, and they open/close in about 2 seconds.

Do you have the model number or vendor name?

I bought from http://www.electric-valves.com/
They usually require a minimum order of 50 to 500 valves, but gladly sold me the quantity I wanted (I ordered eight) as a "sample" order. You could look around for a valve with your requirements. They are quite cheap. I think I paid $28/valve plus $70 in shipping for stainless 2-way valves.

Thanks for the information.

Back in the days before they had those 3 way valves I put together a group order for the KLD ball valves from china, so those are what I use. The OCS guys (brew troller guys) used them for a little while but they switched vendors to something a little cheaper.

I know the KLD 3 way's operate in about 4 seconds. I suspect that the other ones are about the same. The 10 second time is the full motor run time, but the open close time is when the ball valve has moved enough to stop all flow, the valve moves about 1/8 of its range further than when its shut off (and thus also takes some extra time to open). In all the total time the motor is on for the valves I have is about 5 seconds, time to full open from full close (flow rate wise) is about 4 seconds and time to full close from full open (flow rate wise) is again about 4 seconds, and total motor run time is about 5 seconds.

My 2-way valve has a 3-4 second cycle time.
My 3- way takes 4.5 second just to get to the middle to give me a perfect seal (both ports closed), 9-10 second cycle time.
For my application the longer cycle time is perfect, no overshoot in the middle.

My 3-way valves are the sealed type and required an operation.
After the operation I glued them together with epoxy.
I made the cable at the same time 6' long and other minor modifications.
