Well I wanted to share with yall something I thought yall might appreciate..

I live with my parents still while I am going to college and after a couple batches of beer going and a several gallons of wine, my mom made the dreaded remark to me... She said, "I think you need to start slowing down on your beer making process, you have made 15 gallons in the last month."

I replied...

"Mom, as an entrepreneur I am more than glad to accept comments or suggestion but I have to tell you your idea would not be a "smart business" decision... I must keep up with supply and demand."

:tank:

Just say, 'What are you? My ...." Oh. Never mind.

15 gallons in a month isn't bad for a college guy. I go through 10 gallons a month and I'm an old bugger. At least my kids keep telling me that.

But they don't bug me about how much beer I make!

Thats not too bad. I have brewed 35 gallons in a month, There are people here that do more then that.

15 gallons a month is a good number to stay stocked. I really need to up my production. I've been averaging 7 gallons a month this year!

I brewed 10 gallons in a 3 week perion and SWMBO complained. I think she is just jealous since she is 8 months pregnant and can't partake.

I have 32 gallons on the counter right now. Now that includes beer, wine, Apfelwein, and Mead.
I also won't bull **** ya and tell you that is what I'll average, that is more the exception than the rule.

But still, this year, I'm looking at 86 gallons in total for the year...That is nothing compared to the likes of BierMuncher and Mr. Zum Quafen.

Man, living at home is such a drag ... Now your mom threw away your best porno mag.

Point her to this thread and say "See?! It could be worse!"

meh. we drank 50 gallons last weekend :D

Keep it mixed up by making some wine, cider, and mead. That way you can tell her the reason you are making so much is that those take years before they're ready to drink.

Also, you could tell her you're getting a jump on some Christmas gifts while you have the time. That way you sound like you're a considerate son thinking of others.

The entrepreneur statement was good!

LOL. Your Mom = SWMBO.

HAHA
I need to step up. I just started in january but have only brewed 25 gallons. That is beer and apfelwein. Spending too much money on equipment and everything associated with brewing and not on actual ingredients! DOH!. Plus I only have 1 6.5 Gallon Carboy. But I gots an Ale pale and a 5 Gallon Carboy.
Any recipes with nothing really to them besides Pale Malt and hops? maybe a little specialties? I could do a light Ale and put it in the 5 gallon.

DeathBrewer - Is that an A/C powered fermentation closet I see in the background there? Pics please? Already have a thread? Linky? I like the simple shelf-bracket support idea! My brain is a'turnin now!

chriso - i have a bunch of pictures taken. i plan to post them with a how-to thread when i'm finished, but with the recent move at work (we still don't have any racks to get this damn stuff off the floor) i'm working 10-12 hour days. i haven't had time to do jack with it and i still need to get the front to seal properly and make a hole for the power cables.

but yes, that is a 6-carboy ale fermentation cabinet on wheels. you'll have to wait to see more. i know, i know...the anticipation is killing you :D

HAHA yea, I like the comment about half a barrel and not wanting to do things half way... Ill let her know if she brings it up again.

And I agree that 15 gallons isn't that much, I sucked down my first batch so I figure I would make two batches so that I wouldn't run out! Unfortunately, I was the only one who would drink the first batch :drunk:
