I tried malting my own, everything went great till I tried to dry it, first I made a couple LBs of crystal malt,I think it worked well, then let the oven cool back down and spread the rest out on trays and put it in useing just the piolot light for heat, its about 90 degF in there and overnight white mold has grown all over in it.

is it ruined? will the mold make me sick? will it make the beer nasty? should I thow it all out?

I's imagine if you rinse it to get the worst of it off it should be fine, it's going to be boiled after all...

then I ought to be ok then, I sorted through and tossed out any clumps, but Im sure theres still traces of it. I used both my dehydrator and my oven, and 2 of the trays in the dehydrator were a total loss, there was soo much mold it smelled musky, and Im sure that would have given an off taste.

I think I lost about 2 pounds, so out of the 14, Im down to roughly 10. wont know till its dry and I weigh it again.
