I am brewing a Nut Brown Ale and everything was going according to plan up until I went to bottle. I noticed a small patch of mold inside my airlock. Is this going to contaminate my beer?

This is only my second batch of beer and I used a Nut Brown Ale kit. My beer fermented for 7 days. When I transferred into the secondary I didn’t have any mold in the airlock. After 15 days in the secondary I bottled my beer and noticed the mold in the air lock. I used regular tap water in my airlock.

If the fermentation didn't push out of the airlock and suck back in, I doubt anything bad will happen. With the beer already bottled, though, there's not much you can do but wait and see how it turns out. Try using vodka or sanitized water in the airlock for future batches. Good luck!

yah I agree with big kahuna, I have been using iodopher/water in my air lock and had a brew suck some of the solution in during fermentation, I am not that worried but I think I will go for vodka for now on...
