Haha, nice work man. I did a bender costume 2 years ago. My friend was able to fit the top over a sanke keg for dispensing the next year through the mouth. Rock on!

Ok guys, fiberglass work continues. In case anyone's curious how I do it, I start by spraying glue on the form so the 'glass cloth sticks to it. You can also wet the piece with fiberglass resin first (I'm using polyester resin here), but I find the spray glue makes life a lot easier. I can position and reposition the pieces until I'm happy without worrying about my resin hardening up on me. You've got 10-15 minutes once you mix in the hardener.

Then I wet the whole thing out with resin. I went through a lot of resin :)

While that's drying I went to the lathe and turned Bender an antenna.

Next is body filler, primer, then paint! I'm going to use him for a party this weekend, so he may not get painted until next week.

Do you think you could turn a profit on these at $1,000,000?
That's the only way I'd do it - this is a lot of work! :)

So what's the inaugural "Benderbrau" going to be?
Well, it's going to serve a Belgian Wit this weekend, but I'm open to suggestions on a beer to brew specifically for him :)

Cold Fusion Steam Beer - It's the only way to go.

I have a high-res BenderBrau label graphic if you want it. Having trouble uploading it at the moment, though.

Ah, here we are:

Ok, anyone got a recipe? :D

First coat of primer is on! I was going to shoot it tomorrow, but the party is at 3, so I figure I'll work late and sleep in. Second coat goes on in 30.

WOOHOO!

:) I had some Velcro straps lying about so I used those to strap on (hey now!) the paintball tank and regulator.

A little tight in his head, but everything fits.

Still a ways to go, but he went out for his maiden voyage yesterday. The insulation worked amazingly well - 3, 10# bags of ice went about halfway up the corny keg. After almost 10 hours outisde in the sun, most of the ice was still there.

WOW...that's imagination and craftsmanship! Thanks for sharing the build. Where does the brew dispense from...I musta missed it?

If you look closely at the pic you can see the picnic tap hanging from the mouth.

nostalgia - How big was the garbage can you started with? I'm not handy like you but would like to build a mobile kegerator.

cercueil,

It's a sump pump basin from the orange borg. I don't know what the volume is, but it's about 16" ID.

A little more progress today. Turned some shoulder donuts to mount the arms and shot some color! Here's the second coat...after I wiped off the drips from the first. I'm still getting used to HVLP. That bad boy can lay down some serious paint.

:rockin::rockin:

I find it oddly amusing that you created:

a wooden antenna
made to look like
a metal antenna
for a replica
of a drawing
of a metal robot
made to look like a human.

Which will dispense beer.
:mug:

If I lived closer I would totally visit this in person.
