Hello!

I brewed my first smash and followed this recipe:

10lbs marris otter

Hop Schedule:
1 oz. Cascade - 60 min
.5 oz. Cascade - 30 min
1 oz. Cascade - 15 min
.5 oz. Cascade - 5 min

US-05

So, I used 7.1aa for the 60 30 and 5 and Fresh hops with unknown AA content for the 15.

I definitely messed up on the water ratio...new kettle is boiling off more than the old one. But ended up with just under 5 gallons.

I was going for a Pale ale, but after tasting and checking my IBU's this is going to be an IPA.

Can I add an unhopped beer at kegging (just mix with the hopped beer) made with just Marris Otter to balance it out? Could I even just add the unhopped wort to the primary and let the yeast go to work?

I'm not a big IPA guy :(

How long has this been in the primary at this time? I'd say there's no reason you couldn't just whip up some more wort, boiled without hops, and add it to the primary. It'll ferment out. That might be your better option.

You could also make new beer and blend in the keg.if you do that though, I'd probably lightly hop it, rather than leave it completely unhopped.

What about adding directly to the fermenter?

666 nice!!! I wouldn't put it in the fermenter Just let the beer finish out and blend after. Who know you might like the so called IPA one.
 
Given the end goal you stated, I'd still say making up some extra wort and adding it to the primary sounds like the better of your two options. Especially since it's still in active fermentation.

With that said, me personally, I'd take the batch as it is. You can always adjust next time.
 
Taste it before you mess with it. There's a lot more to how bitter it tastes that a calculated IBU number.
 
Good feedback. Would the first runs come across as more bitter? everything that's settle during cooling? I poured that off and had a few tastes. Could also be my pallet wasn't tuned to something bitter at the moment.

Last night I had A Rogue Oregasmic whose hoppiness slapped me in my face. then after a few sips, the maltiness shone threw..... Maybe that's what I tasted?:rockin:
