I have a bayou classic 10gallon kettle and have probably done close to 15 brews with it. I personally think it works great, and everything seems to be holding up. I want to get a 15 gallon kettle to use as a brew pot and use the bayou classic as a hot liquor tank. Was doing some research and the Megapot 1.2 looks like a popular kettle. It's about 100 dollars more than the classic and I'm having trouble finding posts that really describe the differences between the kettles; I'm actually still not convinced that the kettle is going to change the quality of the beer that much. Was looking for opinions on these two pots. Please respond only with feedback on these two pots. Not really in the market for a keggle either. Thanks.

I've never understood the appeal of expensive pots that don't have welded couplings. I vote Bayou, they're solid pots as you've experienced. Not really anything to gain from going to a more expensive one that doesn't offer extra features that you want.

My current favorite kettle on the market? Spike Brewing.

Welding fittings are super nice and amazing quality. You want to know what the difference between the Spike and cheaper kettles (or other similar kettles)? Look on their website at the cutaway kettle. http://spikebrewing.com

I personally love my Megapot 1.2 setup. They are heavy duty, they heat up well and the temp gauge is accurate within 2 to 3 degrees. It makes great beer and I can't think of anything to complain about it except now I want a bigger one to start making 10 gallon batches.

Just my 2 cents,
The price of the pot will have nothing to do with the quality of the beer with exceptions like features and material.. Obviously stainless is superior to aluminum and holds up better without slowly breaking down into your beer. If your brewing on a propane burner a triclad kettle may be more forgiving if you don't mix contiguously.

If you brew with electric and use pumps than spending more for features you simply don't need makes the expensive kettles even a harder sell. As an owner of 3 bayou kettles myself that work great for my electric setuo, If you plan on moving the kettles around when full then I would consider better kettles.. The bayou kettles are very thin and I don't think they would hold up well over time when banged around, especially full.
