I like the idea of large dia. rollers and not having the difficulty of knurling.
Are there pros and cons of various materials for this application?
I happen to have plenty of 3.5" dia aluminum pipe on hand (thick walled, about 1/4" I'm guessing). I machine the pipe and endplates as needed, and MIG it all together. Just wondering if Al is a suitable material for this.
Is 3.5" large enough for no knurl? Where do you draw the line?
