Mash Tun Braid; Supply Line Fittings?

Has anyone tried using the actual dishwasher / faucet supply line connection to thread directly onto a nipple to the valve in a MLT?

Or does something about a) the fittings themselves (galvanized?) or b) the plastic innards make that more trouble that it is worth?

I.E. Only cut off one end, pull the tube out, and screw the remaining assembly onto your nipple?

You can't pull the tube out if you don't cut off both ends.
