Malt usage in kit

Do you think that there is need in using the whole 2-3L tank of malt extract for the 20L batch? - My friend thinks its to much... (we got it with the kit....)

I'd use it all. That recipe as written will give you a starting gravity of 1.051 (if you don't add the optional brown sugar mentioned in the recipe). Sounds just about right to me.

Can't say about the brown sugar though, that's up to you!
I would definitely NOT bottle after 7 days. I would leave it in the primary for at least 2-3 weeks, then at least 2-3 weeks in the bottle. It will taste better it is just hard to wait that long!

It might seem like too much to look at it, but figure someone with quite a bit of experience decided it was the right amount. If you don't like it and end up getting the kit again, don't use the whole thing.
