Taphouse is opening a location close to my office? Oh my, I'm never going to get anything done!

I can't wait!

(Also, one cannot forget the Stumbling Monk, it has an excellent selection of imports on tap)

this is a new place is all I'm pointing out.

its all german food and beer.

I just ate at a place called Yardhouse (http://www.yardhouse.com/default.asp) here in Kansas City. They claim to have the worlds largest selection of draft beer. I asked them how many they had and they said 117. This Taphouse looks to have 160. How does Yardhouse get to claim the largest selection when they have over 40 fewer on tap?

The Taphouse is fairly new IIRC. I only heard about it about 4 months ago. I suspect its just out of date information.

[EDIT: Nevermind, they've been around since 2005 or perhaps earlier. I just don't get to the Eastside much]

I am always excited and then generally disappointed with the mega tap bars. The turn around on some of those rare and unknown brews is too slow to insure freshness. So you pay $4 for a pint of that rare beer you read about years ago and it tastes like skunky cardboard. But maybe, hopefully, Seattle will support the taps enough for this to not be a problem.

Back in the day I went to a place that had 70 beers on tap. Every thursday they would have all the beers on sale that were not being consumed fast enough. This would keep them fresh. It was a great Idea.

not a problem! I love to find new places in the area. For sheer ridiculous amount of taps it is hard to beat but I still like places i can stum... er... walk home from. :cross:

so for me I rather like the pacific rim brewing company lately.
http://www.pacificrimbrewing.com/
it certainly isn't the greatest place in the world (or west seattle) but for a decent brew at a decent price, with a nice quiet atmosphere and close by, its not bad. :tank:

now... if I can just find some reasonable pipe fitting in the area i'll be making my own exclusively fairly soon. :ban:

p.s. if you know of anyplace in the area that happens to sell beer by the yard or half yard you will make my day

I understand the coolness factor of having so many beers on tap, but unless the place has a HUGE clientele, I wonder how long some of those kegs have been there for...

I haven't been there yet, but have heard great things about Brouwer's Cafe in Fremont. http://www.brouwerscafe.com/bier.html

Supposed to have a HUGE selection of beers, both bottled and draft with lots and lots of specialty beers and such... A coworker said that she sampled bacon flavored beer there!
