Since i have my choice of two extremes, I see it like this:

The proprietors of The Beer Nut are pretty sure they know everything about brewing beer and they know, well, more than i do, but sure have an attitude about it.

Coffee out my nose! Funny stuff. I agree with most of this, but I can't stand Art. And the so call shop he has gives me the chills.

The Nut's staff are ok when you get to know them and tell them to leave you alone. Most of them know me at least by my face if not by name. And I have told them all a few times that I can handle myself. They do have one fairly large guy that works part time in there and works full time for Epic. He does know a lot of stuff and is entertaining to talk to. And Jami is always helpful but she will tell you the there are guys that work for her that know way more than she does.

I haven't bought grain from Art, and don't plan on it if that's his deal. I would rather buy a full sack at the NuT and use their card system so I don't have to take it all home at once. Best deal in town.

Art isn't so bad, and his grain is good quality. He's a cantankerous old coot, but i like him. But i work all day at a job where i have to be an *******, and have to care what other ******** say and do, so it's actually amusing to go to his shop and not give a damn what he has to say.

He was so pissed off the first time i went there.

Anyway, he'll sell you any size bag of grain above 1 pound, there's just some stuff he sells a minimum 1lb, and some stuff he sells a minimum .5lb.

Mine scoope all the specialty grains into a jug then grind them all and charge $2 a pound. So if you get .5 Munich .5 chocolate you pay $2, it's also a good crush I get 75% eff. All the time.

We use Homebrew Headquatrers in Richarson tx and they are great. Buy by a full bag is a better price but specialty grains by the weight in decimal pounds. We like to support our LHBS!
