So 270L after 30 years on oak? Urbs must have one really big garage.

I’m mostly just extremely triggered here by the number of people who have had 83 dirty horse which was my biggest personal whale when I first got into beer and thought everything was obtainable.

My fault for not going to Ebs during the glory years of the fest....

If you’re tight with Chris, I’m sure he still has bottles and would more than likely open one. He gave us folks that poured at his first night of the great thirst full 12oz pours of it so it’s not as though he’s not overly generous.

I can confidently state that the keg at Eb's was the best cherry beverage I've ever tried, and I've had Statement Reserve.

I just pinged a few relevant parties who may or may not chime in. I was happy to hear some 1978 was found, but not really surprised at the notion. I'm sure he had many brew days over many years.

So somehow after nearly 30 years, Urbs had a barrel with 250L of beer still sitting in it. How big was Chris’ keg? Because between that, the 250 750mL bottles of 90/10 blend, there’s still another 100 750mL bottles of 100% ‘83 DH.

Maybe they can rebrew the OG Earthmonk with Hardy yeast so it will be good again.

Don't forget that it showed up one year at Mikkeller's festival in Copenhagen.

Let's be honest: the myth is much more interesting than whatever the facts amount to regarding Dirty Horse. If this thread culminated in the definitive, unassailable Dirty Horse story, complete with timelines and family trees, that would be the end of the Dirty Horse story.

I would say that, for many of us, what continues to make beer interesting long after becoming jaded on trading and what accounts for current craft beer trends are that there are still weird 1+1=3ish stories like Dirty Horse. We'll never get the full story from the horse's mouth, of course, because there's nothing for Urbs to gain by unraveling the mystery even if he could remember all of these minute details that only we give a **** about. And thank goodness for that, because what would be left to talk about?
