Getting ready to do my first lager and I'm a little concerned about yeast viability after lagering for weeks on end. I've read the threads here that pretty much tell me not to worry and that there'll be plenty of yeast to carb, though it may take a bit longer.

I was thinking that if I were to bottle one or two using carb drops that I have left over from a one gallon kit, that would tell me if I had enough yeast. I thinks it sounds reasonable, but wanted to get some feedback. What do you guys think?

Pour 1/4 pack of Danstar Nottingham Ale yeast into your bottling bucket along with your priming sugar. Stir gently to uniform the mixture, then bottle. You will not need to worry about insufficient yeast to bottle carbonate your lager.

How many weeks and what yeast? I've lagered at 34f for 12 weeks and had no trouble carbing without adding any yeast at bottling.
