I made a lacto starter to brew for the weekend. Weekend came, got busy and couldn't brew. This happened 3 weeks in a row. Well I was supposed to brew this weekend and I pulled out my starter and found this.

Anyone know what it is? Starter smells sour and pretty awesome I might add. Just wondering if its something bad I shouldn't use since its just the starter and not in the fermented beer which would protect it from bad bacteria (or so I am told). Looks kind of like grayish white cotton balls that were pulled apart. If you have any experience I appreciate any feedback.
