Hello I brew beer for sometime now and Im working on my first batch of Kombucha. My question is can I use beer bottles for second fermentation? Are they strong enough? Anyone has tried this?

Thank you!

Sure, you can. To make sure you don't get explosions, I"d suggest using a plastic soda bottle for one of them, at least. Then, when the plastic bottle gets hard (from 1-14 days, depending on how much sugar/sweeteners there are for the yeast to eat), put the glass bottles in the fridge to stop further carbonation.

I like grolsch bottles, with the flip tops for kombucha and then one plastic bottle to check the carbonation.

Cool 😀 I will try some Corona bottles that I don't use much for beer brewing plus are translucid!

Some beer bottles are pretty sturdy, while the glass in some others is pretty thin. Depending on your method, it's probably best to avoid the thinner ones!
