I have my grandson (now 17 months old) one day per week.

We always have a great time, going to the library, reading, singing songs, and snacking on great food.

Last week, I poured about two ounces out of the kegerator to check the color/clarity. His verbal skills are average, but he's really smart and listens carefully. He can't say "Grandma". Instead, it's more like "Mooma".

He watches me. He says, "Juice?" And I answered, "No, Quinn, this is beer. Would you like some juice?" "Juice", he replies. I pour his juice and we then settle down for a story and then his nap.

We had gone to the library, played with trucks, danced to "Old MacDonald's Farm", and then his mom came to pick him up.

His mom comes in and says, "hey Quinn! What did you do today?"

Quinn replies, "Mooma. Beer.".

I almost slapped the little nark! :D

If you'd given him the beer, he would have taken a nap and forgotten the whole thing.

Don't ever say anything to a child that you don't want them to repeat at the worst possible time!

Art Linkletter, commenting on his "Kids say the darnedest things" show, said he always asked, "What do your parents tell you not to say." Typically, the kid had been drilled so many times on what not to say, s/he could reel it off verbatim.

When my youngest was in little school sometimes she would share with her teacher that she helps me make beer. I am so proud of her!

Now I bet I could get her to brew a batch on her own with minimum of help (except the yeast of course, that would be wrong...)

Yooper, you are doing something right when out of all those fun things he did, the beer was the one thing he remembered!

Let's just say that my daughter knows the taste of beer, but grandpa went a little too far on Thanksgiving and I had to cut "them" off! Why do grandparents always cause so much trouble? ;)

This made me smile. Thanks, Yoop.
