I am putting my kegerator together. I bought a beer tower. It has the tubes with fittings on the end. Shouldn't these fittings be ball locks for my kegs instead of a screw on type fitting? I'm not real sure what the story is here. I got it from Northern Brewer and I told them I was using the (little black push levers ... sorry I don't remember the technical name) dispensers and they sold me two smaller fittings. But I don't need screw on fittings do I? I needs the ball lock fittings that snap onto my keg right? Help! Clueless in Seattle (actually North Carolina but the pun works better with Seattle).

Call me crazy but yes the screw on fittings are on the tubes to the tower but it seems to me all I need is to remove those and put ball lock (right side of your pic) on the tubes and I'm done. Why do I need the ones on the left? By the way I have those, just not sure what to do with em.

There are two kinds of ball lock fittings--the ones in the pic are threaded; the other type has a barbed connector that you can just push the tubing over and use a hose clamp on it.

I assumed you had the threaded nuts on your beer and gas lines already, so you'd want to use the threaded connectors.

ok now I understand. I need those extra fittings to screw into the ball lock fittings I already have. I didn't understand that before. Using your pics and explanation I looked over what I have and now I see. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer and this whole thing is new to me. I have another question about drilling the hole into the freezer but should I open a new thread? I don't want to hit a refridgerant coil and create a boat anchor.

Actually I didn't realize you already had ball lock fittings at all. :)

You said in your first post that you needed ball lock fittings to snap on to your keg posts.

But if you already have those, and they have barbed connectors for the lines, you can just cut the fittings off your gas and beer lines and use a hose clamp to attach the tubing directly to the barbed connectors.

So I guess I'm confused as to what you already have...

I'm an expert at creating confusion. What I have are ball locks on those tubes with the party dispensers. The tower assembly came with large screw on fittings (not sure what the fit) but they sold me two small fittings just like the ones on the party dispensers so I can do just as you say and replace the hoses attached to the existing ball locks. So actually I'm good to go, I just didn't realize it when I posted. So now I need to start a new thread about where to drill holes to avoid damage to the freezer (if I haven't already started that thread ... I had a few brews last night) :D
