What is the difference between a 2 piece and a 3 piece ball valve?

For a keggle, are there any advantages to using a SS valve over a brass one?

the 2 and 3 piece are functionally the same. 3 piece breaks down more for cleaning, though I've never taken mine apart anyway.

Stainless is just a higher quality material and will last longer and stay cleaner. brass is cheaper, and will work fine, but some people worry about the lead content leaching into their beer. brass will gradually discolor, though it probably does not affect anything.

One big advantage to stainless for your keggle is that you have the option of welding it rather than messing with weldless assemblies.

A 2 piece valve can be taken apart if you have a couple large wrenches. But as PoB said its mostly a matter of choice.

Functionally they are identical.

I've got a brass weldless ballvalve on my keggle from bargain fittings and it is great. I'm gonna add a thermometer to the keggle one of these days.

Two peice valves are a hell of a lot lighter, and a bit cheaper as well. And yeah the three peice come apart a little easier.

Since you're asking, I say spend the extra few bucks for the SS 3-piece. You'll be glad you did in the long run.
