Full disclosure: there is an extra hole up top where the eye bolt is to hold the sight glass. It won't effect anything. Lack of attention on my part.:)

Nobody? Man, I'm practically giving this away. I was thinking of doing a Brutus 10 build next for sale but may have to rethink.

ah, maybe you have to be a paying member? i don't know that for sure.

That's kind of what I was figuring. Which sucks because I'm trying to give someone a good deal.

Got a keggle for $30 and a second for $20, just saying... They didn't have the weld but a hole. Pop'd in a weldless and good to go. I'm a cheap guy and look for deals but think at that price most world do a kettle?

Here's my breakdown. Paid $50 for keg. $80 for parts from bobby m. That's $130. Another $10 for two gator grit discs just to make it look a little nicer. Now, factor in all that comes along with the welding (labor, electricity, filler metal, skill, etc) and drilling two holes and cutting the top. And, I hit it with bkf after all was done. I honestly am not making a dime on this. I enjoy welding and just trying to help the community out. But I hear where your coming from.

Ya understand, I know quite a few welders. I think the keggle market might be hard to get into though, ha... Good luck

I guess it comes down to preference of welded vs. weldless. As a welder, I know what I would choose but that's just me. Seems that most go with weldless and that is understandable.

Personally I'd rather have mine welded but the guys I know live/work a good distance from me.

How much does a $15 gal kettle with weldless ball valve, thermometer and sight glass go for out of curiosity?

No idea really. I just have have the weldless ball valve, which I think was less than $18. I think most don't care for slight glass at least I don't... Just more cleaning, but think they range from $30ish. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, but fruggle people like me just get a keg for $40, cut the top, drill a hole and put in the weldless. Ha.

15 gal sankes go for 40-50 bucks, i spend 60ish for my weldless sight, thermometer and ball valve from bobby. $100 before labor of cutting the lid off and using the step bit.

Hard to compete with weldless eh?

I wouldn't touch weldless with a 10' pole. Not a fan of anything that isn't permanently attached. On the flip side, I just don't like scrubbing kegs that much.

The trade off between kettles and kegs is that kegs are way sturdier - they're meant to be lifted by the handles and can take a licking.

If you're patient you should be able to sell these. You might be better off cutting and welding to order.

I had thought about made to order. Thanks for the input. Also thought about Brutus 10 stands or similar since I have a mig and Tig welder but those are certainly a higher end item. I just like having projects to keep me busy. Thanks brewgeyver.

A lot of people are also dimple soldering their couplers as well. Made to order would work best probably. Most home brewers are very cheap hence the coolers and bucket fermenters. Not everyone is in the market for a welded kettle.

Your keggle workmanship appears to be high quality, and your pricing is reasonable

Shipping on heavy items is a killer. Consider advertising on CL in your area and tap into the local HB market.

Maybe even co-op with a local home brew supply store?

Domantori, out of curiosity are you shielding the backside of the weld with an argon blanket, an applied chemical shielding agent or using your abrasive in your post weld clean-up process to remove the oxide (sugar) from the back side of your welds?

You will have better look locally on Craigslist at your price...especially after the holidays ...all the newbies will get their first kit...and will quickly realize they want a keggle

Thank you sir. I shipped my last one to Minnesota from st.louis via ups and shipping was going to be $40 if I supplied the box. I looked around but couldn't find a box big enough so just had them make one but that bumped the cost up to $64.

I have this listed on cl as well and like your idea about a co-op. Maybe offer a percentage of the sale to the lhbs? Kind of a consignment deal?

I have a dual flow regulator so I purged the entire keg. Tried using blue painters tape over the coupling that was being welded and it just melted. Switched to high heat aluminum tape and that didn't work either. Finally crammed steel wool in the coupling but I would not try to pass these off as sanitary welds. There is minor sugaring on the backside to my dismay but nothing hideous. You can kind of see the light sugaring in the attached pic. I took a tiger disc to the inside to try and make it as clean as possible.

Thanks schumed. Love your profile pic. Adam carolla is funny as hell. I read his book " in fifty years we'll all be chicks" and was crying. He speaks the truth.
