I found this post while poking around on Craigs List. I'm a noob and still bottling. I haven't really looked into kegging yet so I have some questions.

First, does this look like a good deal?

What else would I need to start kegging?

"20lb Co2 tank (full), Dual gauge regulator, four tap heads to fit practically any keg available, two empty kegs, shaft, handle and hoses all in perfect working order Start saving money and stop hassleling with bottle deposits. I also have a sidexside fridge that will contain the entire unit perfectly and will let everything go for $350.00 if you are interested."

I asked him for pics but he said he can't send any. It's an hour away so I can't just drop by and check it out. I asked if they were corny kegs and he said they are Labatt kegs so I guess I could make a keggle out of them.

"I`m not sure what a Cornelius style keg is. They are two basic cylandar shaped kegs from Labatt`s Brewing company. The kegs are irrelevant, I do have all four standard tap heads to fit virtually any style keg sold around here along with the large 20lb Co2 tank and dual regulators which are easily worth more than the asking price alone."

Anything else I should ask him?

Thanks for the help! :mug:

Doesn't sound like a great deal to me. Fridges can be found for little to nothing, his taps won't do you any good for homebrew, co2 bottles can be had at any welding shop (I get 5# bottles exchanged for $10). The kegs would be worth something as keggles, but chances are he did not purchase them from a distributer, thus they are likely "stolen".

Fridge - $0
Keg Kit - $130 (Northern Brewer, Austin Home Brew, Etc)
CO2 - $10
Dual Regulator -$40
Hoses/Faucet/Shank -$50

Total $ $230

haha, I've had my eye on that for a while. You must be in the upstate NY area. I couldn't quite figure out what type of set up it was either. I dont get how he can say the tap heads will fit virtually any style keg when he doesn't even know what a corny is. For your purposes, I might just see if he'd let the tank and regulator go by themselves, thats by far the most expensive part of a kegging set up. Then when you get there and can check it out yourself, perhaps make an offer for the rest if you decide you want it.

Thanks guys. I had a feeling it wasn't that great just thought I'd check into it with some folks that would know. Thanks for the info.

I'm up in Washington County JoMarky so still a little ways from Albany. Any LHBS worth checking out in the area? I found a place in Troy online but they never responded to an email I sent so I've stuck with AHS.

Thanks again.

The place in troy, Henessey HomeBrew Emporium is 5 minutes from me. Its great! Amazing selection of grains, extracts, hops and yeasts. And very well priced! Also have wine and cheese making goods, as well as lots of brewing equipment. Staff is also very knowledgeable. I don't think they update their website often so if you want to check if they have something just call in advance. If you're gonna be in the area I can give you the number of a guy who sells full 20lb CO2 tanks for 40 bucks.

Edit: I just did a quick website to website check and they are priced the same if not a bit cheaper than AHS (at least for grain). I don't know if that warrants the trip for you or not.

this guy is ripping you off. the tank and regs together are worth just over $100. i wouldnt buy anything from him.
