Kegerator plans

I have an old mini fridge so I'm starting to formulate my kegerator plans...

The fridge is too small (fits one, nearly two, cornies at the moment), so I'm looking at collars. My question is...is there any reason why I can't push the fridge on to it's back and build the collar upwards as a chest fridge?! I can't see any reason why a sealed refrigerant system has to be a particular way up, so the the compressor should work perfectly well on it's back?!

Nope, the compressor sits in an oil bath. It must stay upright, otherwise the oil migrates and you burn up the compressor. The condensing coils and evaporator you can move around (bend), if you're careful.

There are others who've moved the compressor to stay upright, and put the fridge on its back. Can't remember where I saw that though.

It did sound too good to be true!
Alright unless anyone else pipes up I'll remount the compressor and give it a shot, thanks for saving me a fridge JP!
