Does anyone have any experience with True Residential Kegerators (http://www.true-residential.com/Pro...ser-24-Series-Dual-Tap-Stainless-Solid/#top)?

I'm doing a kitchen remodel and SWMBO agreed to adding a kegerator as long as we could also add a wine fridge. :) I saw the True products in a local appliance showroom and they look pretty nice. They're also a bit spendy, so I thought I'd see if anyone here had any experience.

Ultimately, I'm not wedded to this brand, so any suggestions for a good quality in-kitchen kegerator setup would be most welcome. Here are my basic requirements:

1. Under counter
2. Dual faucet, 24" width (may get cut down to single faucet, 15" width as planning progresses :( )
3. Ability to support Sanke as well as Cornelius kegs with ball locks so I can serve both commercial and homebrews without much difficulty.

Any other things I should be on the lookout for? Any traps/gotchas when installing a kegerator as part of a kitchen remodel?

Oh, one final question. What sort of clearance should I leave above the tap handles if I was going to install cabinets above the kegerator?

Thanks in advance!

SEABrewer,

Full Disclosure: I work for True's residential team.

Thanks for your interest in a True Beverage Dispenser!

I know we meet your 3 basic requirements, and we do carry both 15" (single tap) and 24" (single and dual tap) models. I went ahead and measured the height of the tower/tap handles for you. The tower and standard handles we ship will stand 15.5 inches above your counter top. You may want to leave additional room for custom tap handles.

I'll give you 2 quick, but important, notes about buying a residential dispenser.

1: Get an Air Cooled Tower! The tower is the highest, least insulated point of your dispenser. In most dispensers, the tower isn't cooled, which causes the beer in your lines to warm up. If the beer in the lines warms up, your first pour will be warm and foamy and you may dump some of the beer you worked so hard to brew. However, with our air cooled tower you'll have a perfect pour every time.

2: Find the best warranty you can. At True we stand behind our refrigerators with the best warranty available for an undercounter refrigerator. 3 years full parts and labor warranty, with an additional 3 years parts and labor warranty on the sealed system (the guts of your fridge). If you're going to invest in a built-in undercounter refrigerator, you'll want a machine that is going to last.

Please let us know if you have additional questions about our units and we'd be happy to answer them.

Thanks,

-Andrew from True
