I'm new to kegging this year...and have a corny keg of Kolsch which has been hooked up in my kegerator for over a month, and working well. However the other day I had disconnected all my gas lines while I was testing a new gas splitter, and after a few hours I plugged the gas disconnect back onto the Kolsch, and noticed the regulator reading no pressure.

So I pulled the relief valve...nothing.

I gassed it back up to 12psi and used starsan foam to test all the seals/connections, all looked ok. So I left it with the gas disconnect on, but the gas bottle off. After a few hours, still 12psi. So I pulled the gas off it, left it a few hours, flat as a tack.

So I assume it must be the gas post causing the leak, specifically the poppet perhaps? Maybe it's not sealing properly after the disconnect is taken off. Any thoughts on my next step?

Do you have another keg that you can borrow some parts from. If so I would start by switching the gas side posts on the two kegs. That should point out if the problem is specific to post and poppet.

sound like the poppet is not sealing, try taking the poppet out and look at the rubber on the top

if it is bad it will need to be replaced, you could try a little keg lube on the top but I have not had real good luck with keg lube on poppets

for now just leave the gas line hooked up :)

all the best

Cheers, I gassed it up and used starsan foam, it's definitely leaking around the poppet ring. So i pulled it apart and lubed the poppet seal, and it seems to have stopped the leak...I'll keep an eye on it and grab a seal kit from my LHBS next time I'm there.
