Keg beer seems to get worse with age?

Yep. I'm plagued with the damn things every summer. And they do love the smell of beer!

Keep your airlock full of vodka, and they die happy.

Long as you have sanitizer in the airlock a fruit fly or 6 won't hurt the beer. Make sure to keep it full though and clean them out if they appear!

All my kegs are used soda ones, and it took boiling water to get them clean. Did you use the long brush to rod out the dip tube(in boiling water)? By new seal kits(penny wise ...dollar stupid). And I always clean my new gear in Dawn dish soap to get the mfg oils off then alkaline brewery wash then sanitizer, yes even the CO2 system gets this.
