I built a keezer last Christmas and attached the lid with silicone sealant. Yesterday, the lid came off when I opened it.
The bead i used was a little more than 1/4" thick zigg zagged around the top of the collar.
Please give me some tips to get the lid to attach better.

I used rope type weatherstrip caulk like this:

The caulk has the consistency of stiff sticky modeling clay. It has enough adhesive power to hold a collar in place without the need for screws or brackets of any kind. You can very easily remove it if necessary for some reason. I've had mine in operation for more than three years without issues. Only the caulk and the weight of the 2 x 6 collar hold it in place. It doesn't budge at all. The rope caulk is dirt cheap as well, which is always nice.

Surfaces need to be clean for sealants to work, rubbing alcohol will help in the future. On most clean surfaces, silicone will adhere very well.
