I’m considering adding a tap from my basement to my 1st floor. Could I have a bucked in the freezer (maybe add some salt) and have a pump push the cold water through a line wrapping the beer line? I’m thinking that if the freezer water is always being agitated it won’t freeze!?

thx

That could work I suppose, but frankly imo if you're going to put the infrastructure together for a liquid cooled trunk line you might as well use glycol with the mix set for protection against freezing and never worry about the pump stalling against a frozen line...

Cheers!

i tried once...didn't work....but that was just 1/4" beer line through garden hose....and vodka in water.....and it was more like 40'....

I was thinking about cost efficiency. From what I can see, glycol systems run upwards of $900.

would you be able to save money on EVA barrier lines, if they were in glycol though? lol

My kegerator is in the basement and that is my little bit of exercise required to obtain beer.:mug:

i always laugh and think about how i'm a loser, for not having a tap at every sitting place.....back when i lived in N.Cal...i had a projector and a beer line that could only pour alco-pop, because the length, but laying in bed with a 100" screen, and a beer tap on the side of the bed was great!

Easiest way would be to use a flash chiller with a recircuation pump, make up a python with three line, 1 for product and 2 for recirculation. Tape them tightly together and use pipe insulation to keep it cool all the way to the tap. You can also get chilled taps which can be spliced into the circuit.
