Just ordered my ingredient kit for this bad boy, can't wait to get this one started. If anyone is familiar with KBS it is hard to get here in Michigan and rather costly. It's going to take awhile to condition and let the flavors settle so I'm going to be on the edge of my seat for a couple months. Here is a list of the goodies:

Fermentables:
Malt Bag 1:
3.3 lbs Munich Malt Syrup
Malt Bag 2:
5.6 lbs Light Malt Syrup
1.1 lbs Wheat Malt Syrup

Grains:
16 oz Roasted Barley (Crushed)
10 oz Chocolate Malt (Crushed)
8 oz De-Husked Carafa I Malt (Crushed)
4 oz Coffee Malt (Crushed)
4 oz Pale Chocolate Malt (Crushed)
8 oz 150L Crystal Malt (Crushed)
4 oz Special B Malt (Crushed)
16 oz Flaked Oats
1 lb Brown Sugar
24 oz Baker's Chocolate, Unsweetened (5min boil)
5 oz Dark Roasted Coffee (Added at the end of boil and allowed to steep for 10mins)

Hops:
1 oz Horizon Hops(65min)
1 oz Perle Hops(65min)
1 oz Target Hops(65min)
½ oz Willamette Hops(30min)
½ oz Willamette Hops(1min)

Yeast:
Wyeast 1028 London Ale Yeast

Oak Cubes soaked in 24oz of Bourbon for 1wk then added to the secondary and allowed to rest for 3wks

I did a Breakfast Stout last fall and had extra so I could fake a KBS kind of beer. It didn't turn out due to brewing difficulties and an infection.

It was still a drinkable beer, but not what I wanted. I've been wanting to make a clone for a while, and I managed to pick up a 4 pack of KBS so I may save 1-2 bottles to compare my clone with.

Word of warning. If you use cacao nibs in the boil, don't try to pump it through your chiller...

Good looking out Homercidal, currently I am using an immersion chiller until I go to a bigger system but I'll keep that lesson noted in the archives until then. :)

nero ill be really curious to see how this turns out for you, im getting ready to start a batch of this myself. Came across this a while back not sure if you have seen it. Good luck and keep us posted.

MENOTU - I will for sure. I am a huge fan of bourbon barrel flavored stouts. KBS is an awesome one however hard to get for us so hopefully it turns out. Thanks for the AG link as well, once I make the jump to AG I will definitely give that one a try as well.

ya as hard as it is to get kbs im with you on trying to make something close, not sure if im going to stay with KBS or try and make CBS. Time will tell, oh and that link has a mini mash conversion in it too. When are you starting? and how long are you planning to let it age before drinking it?

I just ordered everything so I probably won't brew it up until next weekend. Planning on a 2 stage fermentation with 1-2wks in the primary, 2-3wks in the secondary, and then 3+wks in the bottles. I will probably test a bottle of it after 2wks just to see how its going and gauge where its at. Not expecting to really drink it though until 7-8wks from brewing.
