Just mashed in for first time in 2.5 months

A couple more mornings of frost & the yellow jackets will be gone until the February warm spell. So, I'll be able to start brewing again. Even working with the garage doors closed doesn't stop them from getting in. Into the kettle, under my shirt, up pants' legs. Got nailed last week going out to the kegger for a pint!

Lots of them about? This is the first year I have seen so many.
Everytine I venture out I see them. They don't bother me until I start
to brew, then they seem to stick around. The weather hasn't been
cold enough to make them disappear just yet.

I brewed today and one yellow jacket made its way into my brewpot. I made my first AG Pilsner today. I just bought a Ranco temp control and it works great. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

it was almost a month ago when the yellow jackets made their last stand for the summer/fall...

it snowed briefly here friday/saturday and the brewery is oiled and ready to go!
