I know it’s late, but that’s how I roll. Spent a couple hours cleaning my SSB unitank and my new-to-me Grainfather G40.. then figured what the hell, it’s brew day! 😎 Heated up pretty quick (about 20 mins) and then doughed in. So far, so good! 😁

Shiny!

Those rolled plates must be a godsend. I saw they were available for the GF30 now as well, but I feel like they should send those out for free along with a letter apologizing this was not the standard solution from the get go :D

Lol.. no doubt! The seals are a major PIA, and they know it! I will say, this thing is soooo much nicer than the G30. No seals, no pipe work and no upper screen to deal with. Looks like it’s a keeper! 😎

I do wish they offered a cart for it though. It fits nicely on the stainless Blichmann kettle kart, looks like I’ll be keeping it too.

The lower screen/hop filter work great too, and it’s got a stronger pump. Not much wort left after the transfer. 🍺

Sounds like you love it, warts and all :p

I don't think I'll upgrade any time in the near future, unless my GF30 breaks irreparably. And even then, my current brew-stuff fantasies revolve more around low-tech solutions and a "modular" set-up rather than the full "I'm only here to clean" experience of fully automated systems :)

I just used by new G40 this weekend and loved it. However, it took forever to drain the grain basket and sparge. Is this normal? Do I need to change my grain mill setting to something coarser? I was also surprised at how heavy the grain basket with 18 1/2 lbs. of wet grain was. Looks like I need to buy a pulley system to save my back.
