anyone know why this batch of boxers is so small? is it that small in relation to past batches (could find older bottle counts).

Just guessing, but might be barrel-sourcing. Whatever it was, get some - I think its the best batch of Boxers yet. And the other 2 - Sin Frontera and Coquetier are both excellent as well.

Apparently (I haven't tried it yet), this batch of Boxer's was aged in wine barrels instead of the normal whiskey barrels.

Heard varying reviews.

Anyone else remember this being a $12.99 supermarket shelf turd? ;)

The tart fruitiness of the whiskey barrels is replaced by an oakiness, and overall stronger body in this batch. Still tart, but different. I liked it a lot, and bought my whole allotment.

And yeah, I remember going into the Specs here in Round Rock and buying 5 different JK beers off the shelf. Bygone days

I'll be coming by Saturday to JK. I don't intend to buy my full allotments of everything if anyone wants extras. I'll likely be buying only
- max Coquetier
- 1-2x Boxer's Revenge
- at most 1 bottle of Cerveza Sin Frontera
Think you could bring me back a bottle ot two of Cervesa Sin?

Will you be back in Houston by Saturday night? Think I want in on this too.

Better check to see whats left on the Frontera - I heard its getting low. Buy all the Coquetier - I have 5 bottles already, and plan on trying to get more. Its that good.

I have not heard good things about frontera from multiple people. As in not worth blowing $20 a bottle, not to say that it's terrible or anything like that. I'll get a pour if it's still on tap and make up my own mind, but JK beers just taste different in the bottle. Really hard to gauge unless you buy a bottle on-site.

I'll be bringing back my last 2x Hibernal b2 to hopefully exchange for other bottles. I've had too many bottles that taste like soap and smell like cow farts.

I only had Frontera on cask, with lemon peels in it, which was really nice, but don't know how it compares to the regular one.

And yeah, its always hard to make those decisions, because almost universally EVERYTHING tastes better out of the bottles than on tap there.

Hasn't been Whiskey barrels in a while tho. B 1-3 was whiskey, 4 was oak/wine, 5 was whiskey, and then 6 was oak/wine, then this new batch is again wine/oak.

Tho, honestly, once you use a whiskey barrel more than once or twice, it doesn't really impart that much flavor to the beers after that. JK said that they didn't really have any whiskey barrels for use anymore, its all neutral oak at this point.

Yeah I just dont think I've bought any since the first few batches, back when I could buy it off the shelves. So maybe this way has been done before, but it was new to me.

Sorry I missed you out there, btw. I saw your Untappd comment about being there after I got home that day. :(

We were there Friday at opening and had a chance to try all the newer brews. Really thought the new BR was pretty good. The coquetier was the best pour available IMO. Sin frontera was good, but not overly mind blowing. I am curious to pop a few tops and see how they taste out of the bottle. Can't wait until I'm off work in a few days to try them again.

Anyone in town have some extra Frontera or Conquieter? I haven't had an opportunity to make it out there in a few weeks and I would love to score two of each. I can trade some shelf lambic, Hoarders/Reserve beers, whiskey, glassware, hot sauce, etc.... Holler?

Give me a day or so, but this is a definite possibility on my end.
