Issues with splitting a batch when kegging

I thought I might try to split a 5 gal. batch on my next brew, 2 x 2.5 gal batches. Would there be a big issue in kegging, I just got into the kegging part. If I purged, kegged the 2.5 gal, and sealed the keg, would there be a problem? Has anyone done this sucessfully and what did you do.

That's why I have 3 gallon cornies. Nice to split batches and no wasted co2.
