if its all i had I'd probably run some sort of cleaner and some really hot water thru it first ... to the point where it didnt smell like vinyl or anything anymore ... then its probably ok ...

Does it have the letters NSF on it? If so, you're golden. If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thats what I use and haven't had any problems with off flavors, or a third arm, eye, etc.
