Just bottled my first stout today and during bottling I was getting a lot of foam/head and I have never had that before with the previous lager and wheats I have done. Is this normal or could something be wrong?
It happens. I'm still trying to figure out why it happens in some beers (after 200 beers). Doesn't seem to make a difference in the beer. I assume it is CO2 coming out of solution, since there is no way of introducing air into the siphon system.
I had one do it recently that had been in the fermenter for 6 weeks and had definitely finished.
Makes it a pain to get the bottles filled to the right level.
Ok great, it did make it more of a pain during bottling but no big deal, it was just the first time I ran across it so it worried me for a second. Thanks guys!
