Look like it would work well. It's just analog as apposed to the more expensive digital ones. Depends on what kind of accuracy and how much fine control you want. It's easier to select a paritcular temp when using buttons selecting one degree change at a time then turning an analog pot trying to pinpoint within 1 degree.

Looks like a good deal. It appears to be an older model, but a google search revealed that others were using it for keezers and fermentation fridges around 1994. I'd say go for it.

I don't notice a 110 cord or recepticle on this model. Does this mean it has to be hardwired? In other words, do you need to wire it to replace the existing thermostat in the freezer?

The temp diff would need to be set to the minimum of 3.5* That is quite a swing for the yeast, but still doable. You would need to wire it and set your freezer to its coldest setting.
